Once you have upgraded the other PC it's best to do a clean install of Windows 10 if possible. See the BC guide on doing a clean install. If the computer is not activated you can use the Windows 7 Pro to do a clean install. On the PC that failed it should now be activated with a digital license if the upgrade was done while online. When you ran the Media Creation Tool on the Windows 7 pro computer did you select "Upgrade This PC Now" or did you create installation media for the install? Upgrade This PC Now is the preferred method. You should not have needed to purchase those Pro flash drives. The WIndows 10 upgrade should still be free. That link you provided goes to Youtube then redirects to the Microsoft site. What do I need to do to get Windows 10 operating properly?Įdited by Platypus, 06 January 2020 - 09:54 AM. Now I did buy from store Windows 10 Pro flash drives for $200.00 for each desktop but was hoping that the downloading from Microsoft would work instead. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Rebooted again and then the follow message popped up:Ĭ:\WINODWS\SYSTEM32\MSVCP140.dll is either not designed to run Windows or it contains an error. Rebooted the system, system came up then the cursor froze. This morning the computer would not wake up when I moved the mouse or hit esc on the keyboard.

I went to the Microsoft website and clicked on the downloader tool:įollowed all the steps it took two tries because it froze up which then went back to Windows 7 then retried it again. I backed up my files, photos and other documents on an external hard drive. I have Windows 7 Pro on two desktops, yesterday I wanted to start the upgrade on one of the desktop.
